Alexandra Karrasch, Berlin, März 2006 The inevitable materiality of the transformation process is continously revealing of the material's intensity and potential. The resulting beauty in the work is part of a mystery that exists wholly outside the demand for definition or information. It is my aim to produce something immediate as opposed to immediately definable. Alexandra Karrasch, Berlin, 2006 Nearly all of my work involves the use of pre-fabricated line as a starting point, particularly focusing on industrial wire. It is the materials plastic quality out of which single line is accumulated into space. The process of repetition has become increasingly important as it not only traces time, but to me perfectly visualises the idea of ´recollecting forwards´. A motion that is expansive, direct, unveiled and in its nature seems to resist certainty. In this way concrete as well as imaginary space are interwoven and potentially induce a resonance that takes the viewer beyond the given. The work is non-narrative, some ethereal quality part of a mystery that exists wholly outside the demand for definition. Alexandra Karrasch, Berlin, 2007 |
