Gefaltet – verhäutet

In der Kunst von Enrico Niemann ist die Haut nicht nur Metapher für die Frage nach der
Wahrnehmung und Ästhetik an sich, sondern steht im Kontext der Verbindung von Innenkörper
und Außenwelt. Haut ist hier etwas Zusammenhaltendes, Abschließendes und zugleich
Aufnehmendes. Niemann verhandelt nicht nur die Oberfläche, sondern den Raum dahinter.
Durch die Überlagerung der vielfarbigen und leuchtenden Folien entstehen Schichten, die
durchblitzen und Räume öffnen. Die Transparenz der Folien und gezogene sowie geschnittene
Löcher geben den Blick auf die untenliegenden Schichten frei. Man könnte fast sagen,
es handele sich um eine dreidimensionale Malerei. Nicht nur weil die Farbigkeit eine
wichtige Rolle spielt, sondern weil die Farben selbst Räume erzeugen und der Träger
Folie durch seine Transparenz in die Räumlichkeit führt. Hier gelingt es Niemann brillant
die Künstlichkeit des Materials Folie in all seinen Bedeutungen und Assoziationen und
eine anwesende natürliche Körperlichkeit zu verbinden. Anziehend und irritierend
zugleich laden seine Kunstwerke zum Nachdenken und sehenden Erforschen ein.

Eine weiterere Besonderheit ist das Konkrete in der Kunst von Enrico Niemann. Spielerisch
und selbstverständlich wird das ursprüngliche Verständnis von Körper, Haut und Haptik in
klare konkrete Formen überführt. So erhalten seine Werke eine weitere, beinahe kontempla-
tive Ebene. Hier seien als Beispiele die Werke „White Box“, „Pan de voile“ oder auch
„Imprint“ genannt. Speziell für diese Ausstellung entwickelt Enrico Niemann eine raumbe-
zogene Installation.

Der Titel „gefaltet – verhäutet“ bezieht sich einerseits auf die technische Herangehens-
weise und andererseits auf seinen inhaltlich-ästhetischen Schwerpunkt. Mit dem ausgefallenen
und in der Kunst eher unüblichen Material Folie arbeitet Niemann bereits seit 2007.
Enrico Niemann erhielt sein Diplom 2007 mit „summa cum laudae“ und war stellvertretend für
die Bauhaus Universität Weimar in der Kunst- und Ausstellungshalle der BRD in Bonn. Außerdem
wurden seine Arbeiten u.a. im Toyota Municipal Museum of Art (Nagoya), The University Art
Museum (Tokyo), Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts (Bishkek), Kopenhagen, Erfurt,
Karlsruhe, Leipzig und Berlin gezeigt.

Folded – wrapped with skin

In the art of Enrico Niemann the skin is not only an image for the question about
the cognition and the aesthetic, but stands also in the context of the relation
from the inner corpus and the outside world. Here the skin is something cohesive,
concluding and at the same time incorporating. Niemann bargains not only the surface,
but also the room behind it. Cause of the overlay of the multicolored and luminous
oils, arising coats, which sparkling through and open rooms. The transparency of
the foils including the attracted and sliced holes clears the view on subjacent
coats. It almost appears tri-dimensional. Not only because the chromaticity plays
an important role, but also the colors themselves create rooms and lead the
medium foil through his transparency in the space. Here it works brilliant that
Niemann connects the artificiality of the matter foil in all his meanings and
associations with an attendant natural physicalness. At the same time appealing
and irritating his artworks invite the observer to cogitation and also exploration
by looking.

Another characteristic is the concrete in the art of Enrico Niemann. Playfully and
naturally the original understanding of the body, the skin and the feel is transported
in concrete forms. Through this his works obtain another nearly contemplative level.
Examples are the artworks “White Box”, “pan de voile” or also “Imprint”. Especially
for this exhibition Enrico Niemann developed a space-oriented installation.
On the one hand, the title “folded – wrapped with skin” refers to a technical
approach an on the other hand to his content-aesthetic focus. With the outlandish
matter foil, which is rather unusual, Niemann works already since 2007.

Enrico Niemann got his diploma 2007 with “summa cum laudae” and was the representative
for the Bauhaus University Weimar in the art- and exhibition-hall of the FRG in
Bonn. Besides his artworks were showing among other things in the Toyota Municipal
Museum of Art (Nagoya), The University Art Museum (Tokyo), Kyrgyz National
Museum of Fine Arts (Bishek), Kopenhagen, Erfurt, Karlsruhe, Leipzig and Berlin.
