Himmelwärts

Himmelwärts als nach oben strebende Bewegung, als Sehnsucht nach wolkenlosem, freiem Blick
mit positiver Stimmung und zugleich ein Zeichen von Licht, Aufbruch und Motivation. Dem
Schlechtwetter auf diversen Ebenen trotzen, dem Pessimismus etwas entgegensetzten.
Nach persönlichen Einschnitten im Leben Adelheid Eichhorns in den letzten Jahren, stellen
die Bilder der Serie “Himmelbilder” eine Wende hin zum “wieder Kraft finden”, “hoffnungs-
vollen Blick nach vorne und oben” dar. Adelheid Eichhorn transformiert die Bewegung und
Dynamik des natürlichen Blaus an sich, setzt lineare Akzente, die skizzenhaft anmuten,
doch konzeptuell sind und eine weitere Ebene öffnen. Der gezielt ausbrechende Farbgestus
wird in leichtwirkende hoch ausgeklügelte Kompositionen eingebettet, so daß kraftvolle
Bilder entstehen.

Die colorierten Radierungen haben bereits im Druck ihre Kraft. Einzelne Formen wie Dreiecke
und Kreise werden durch farbliche Untersteichungen betont und geben jeder Radierung einen
unterschiedlichen Ausdruck und Schwerpunkt. Mal sind es Formen, die miteinander spielen,
auf einander reagieren. Mal wird die Bewegung und der Raum dazwischen betont.

Eine Besonderheit in dieser Ausstellung sind die kleinformatigen (10,5 x 21 cm) spontan
entstandenen gestischen Zeichnungen, die wieder, wie Kandinsky sagte, aus dem inneren
Klang der Künstlerin entstanden sind. Die Verbindung, wie ebenso von dem Meister des
Bauhauses festgehalten, von technischer und theoretischer Basis mit Intuition, ist
Adelheid Eichhorns künstlerischer Ansatz und tiefste Überzeugung. Nicht nur die Inhalte
und Ideen des avantgardistischen Bauhauses, speziell Kandinsky, beeinflußten Adelheid
Eichhorn sehr, sondern auch der amerikanische Expressionismus, Informell, die Gruppe Spur,
Hans Hartung usw.. Glücklicherweise konnte sich die Künstlerin während ihres Studiums
an der Leipziger HGB (1968-1972 bei Rolf Kuhrt, Werner Tübke, Wolfgang Mattheuer) durch
die für DDR-Verhältnisse gut sortierten Bibliothek über die aktuellen Kunstströmungen
informieren. Verpönt waren die ungegenständlichen Maler und Grafiker, die sich dem
Informellen, Formsuchen, Gestik und direktem Ausdruck in der Kunst verschrieben hatten.
Oft arbeiteten diese Künstler auf der Leipziger Messe, hatten dadurch Kontakt zu inter-
nationalen Gästen, waren teilweise Jazzfans und gehörten wohl eher zu den unbequemeren
und freidenkenderen Künstlern und Bürgern der DDR. Und damals wie heute liegt die Aussage
beim Betrachter und kann frei und stets neu interpretiert werden. Wir sind gefordert zu
sehen und zu denken. Und schließlich geht es um Freiheit. Farbe, Form und Bewegung als
das Wesentliche in der Kunst von Adelheid Eichhorn.

Up to the sky

Up to the sky as a striving movement to the top, as longing to the cloudless
and free view with positive mood and at the same time a sign of light,
departure and motivation. To defy the bad weather on various levels and
opposing the pessimism something.

After personally decisive points in the life of Adelheid Eichhorn in the last
years, the paintings of the series “up to the sky” present a turn to ´find power
again`, a hopefully view forward and upwards. Adelheid Eichhorn transforms
the movement and dynamic of the natural Blue itself, puts linear accents,
which are graceful in broad outline, but at the same time also conceptual
and open another level. The handle of the color breaks out purposefully,
is imbedded in very high level compositions, which seem light, so that
powerful paintings arising.

The coloring etchings have her strength already in the press. Single forms
like triangles and circles are markedly through colored underlines and give
every etching a different expression and main emphasis. Sometimes there are forms,
which playing together, reacting on each other. And sometimes the movement and
the room between them are pointed out.

In this exhibition, the small formats (10, 5 x 21 cm) arising spontaneous drawing,
are a peculiarity, which again, like Kandinsky said, are coming being into from
the inner sound of the artist. The combination, like as well recorded from the
master of the Bauhaus, from technical and theoretical basis with intuition, is
the artistic approach and deepest conviction of Adelheid Eichhorn. Not only the
content and the ideas of the avantgarde Bauhaus, especially of Kandinsky, has
influenced Adelheid Eichhorn a lot, but also the American expressionism, the Infomel,
the group Spur, Hans Hartung and so on. Fortunately, the artist could inform
herself during her studies at the University of Graphic and Book Art in Leipzig
(1968-1972 with Rolf Kuhrt, Werner Tübke, Wolfgang Mattheuer) through the library,
which was very good organized for relations in the DDR, about latest art trends.
The abstract painters and graphic artists, who had dedicated of the Informel,
the looking for the forms, the gesture and the direct expression in the art,
were frowned on. Often these artists worked on the fairy of Leipzig and by that
they got contact to international guests, partly they were fans of jazz and
were more likely part of the more inconvenient and freethinking artists and
citizens of the GDR.

And then like today the evidence is by the observer and can be interpreting free
and always new. We are really challenged to see and to think. And finally it is
about liberty, color, form and movement as the main object in the art of Adelheid
Eichhorn.
