Links: Friedemann Grieshaber, Für Golda, 2011, Bronze weiss patiniert, 11 x 3,5 x 2,7 cm Rechts: Menno Fahl, Grünes Relief, 2009, Materialbild, 80 x 80 x 30 cm Über drei Ecken Beide Künstler scheinen in Kombination kaum unterschiedlicher zu sein, doch bei näherem Betrachten fällt bei beiden sowohl die Auseinandersetzung mit fundamentalen Elementen (Farbe, Fläche, Linie, Raum) auf, als auch die jeweiligen Verbindungen der Genres Skulptur und Architektur (Grieshaber) sowie Malerei und Bildhauerei (Fahl). Trotz figürlicher Erkennbarkeit und assoziativem Abbild von Realität überwiegt in den Skulpturen beider Künstler das Transportieren von Ideen. Bei Friedemann Grieshaber geht es z.B. nicht um ein bestimmbares Haus in der Straße x, im Ort y, sondern vielmehr um die Idee von Haus im Kontext von Heimat, Zuhause, Sein im eigenen Körper usw. Es geht nicht um das schwäbische Häuslebauen oder gar städtebaulichen Entwicklungen, sondern um die Visualisierung der Vorstellung von Leben. Die hohe Konzentration und Reduktion in Material und Form geben seinen archaischen Skulpturen eine starke Ästhetik. Eine geradezu philosophische Sensibilität vermitteln die klaren Kanten, das wohlüberlegte Spiel von Innen und Außen sowie die Massenverschiebungen. Nicht zuletzt verleiht das Licht den Plastiken eine verführende Klarheit und magische Schönheit. In seiner Arbeit Für Golda von 2011 verbindet Grieshaber seine für ihn typischen Motive Haus, Treppe, Thron und Figur auf wunderbare Art und Weise. In Menno Fahls Assemblagen, Skulpturen und Papierarbeiten geht es immer um den wilden Kampf zwischen Farbe und Raum. Sowohl gefundenes Material wie Holz, Draht o.Ä. greift in den Raum, als auch die Farben an sich geben Raum, sprich, sie springen manchmal dem Betrachter entgegen oder sie überlagern eine nach vorne dringende Form, welche dadurch gebremst wird. Gerade diese farb-räumliche Bremse verbunden mit der Beschleunigung durch Material oder Farbe macht die Spannung und Besonderheit der Kunst von Menno Fahl aus. Die beinahe manirierten Sprünge zwischen Skulpturalem und Malerei beeindrucken, setzten Reize, sind bedingungslos lebendig, sprühen vor Kraft und harmonieren letztendlich spannungsvoll. Beide Künstler sind mit Werken in der Sammlung des Museums für Bildende Künste Leipzig vertreten. Wir freuen uns auf die Begegnung der Kunst von Friedemann Grieshaber und Menno Fahl in unserer Galerie. But when you look exactly at their works you see the examination with fundamental elements (colour, surface, line, room) and as well the particular relations of genres, like sculpture and architecture (Grieshaber) plus painting and sculpting (Fahl). In spite of the figurative recognisability and associative copy of reality overbalance the transportation of ideas in the sculptures of both artists. The art of Friedemann Grieshaber isnīt about, for example, a definable house in the street x at the place y. Itīs rather about the idea of a house in the context of home and to be at home in the own body etc. Not the way of building Swabian houses or even urbanistic developments is important, but the visualisation of the imagination of life. The high concentration and reduction in material and form gives his archaic sculptures a strong aesthetics. The clear angles import both a really philosophical sensibility and a well-considered game between the interior and the exterior as well as the large quantities of displacements. Last but not least the light gives his plastics an ensnaring clarity and magical beauty. In his work For Golda from 2011 Grieshaber relates his for him typical motives house, stairs, throne and figure in a wonderful way. In the assemblages, sculptures and paper-works of Menno Fahl itīs always about the wild fight between the colour and the room. Founded material, like wood, wire or similar grabs in the room and the colours as one element give themselves room, i.e. sometimes they jump in the front of the observer or they overlay in a form, which press forward and then itīs braked through it. Exactly these colour-territorial brakes relating with the increasing through material or colour, composes the suspense and the particularity of the art of Menno Fahl. The almost mannerism jumps between the sculptural and painting impress oneself, add zests to something, are absolutely alive, are bubbling over power and harmonise finally full of suspense. Both artists are represented with their works in the collection of the Museum for Fine Arts in Leipzig.
